The Vessel Caballo Marango was designed by GB Marine. This Diving Support Vessel has among its main features a heavy lift crane system with load capacities of up to 1100 tons. The heavy lift crane allows for easy slewing, allowing the operator to work efficiently and economically. The vessel is based in the Gulf of Mexico, working for the oil industry, carrying out assembly and reconstruction work on oil rigs.

Leighton Eclipse Designed by GB Marine. Offshore Accommodation and Pipelay Vessel

Leighton Stealth and Leighton Eclipse, both designed by GB Marine, are offshore accommodation vessels with pipe laying capabilities. The vessels were used to install 120 km of pipelines in the Persian gulf, part of the Iraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project. The design of these vessels reaffirmed GB Marine's focus on the Offshore Market.

The vessel Sampson, designed by GB Marine, is one of the largest offshore construction vessels in the world today. Sampson has much of the same functionality as Goliath in terms of DP3 capability, and a 1600 tonne fully revolving crane. However, when most offshore and pipelay vessels have capable dynamic positioning systems, the Sampson has been designed with the ability to keep position even in a worst case failure scenario with extremely high pipe tension. It is also deemed a high specification vessel which means it has a dedicated 200 tonne subsea AHC crane, and a deepwater rigid pipelay system.

August 2009 Cranes Today Issue Cover featuring Goliath

The August 2009 issue of the magazine "Cranes Today", featured the OSA Goliath and the MTC 78000 Liebherr crane, which comes equipped with the vessel on the front cover page. Having the Goliath featured so prominently to an international audience is something we are very proud of, and we consider this recognition to be a small testament to the quality of our vessel designs and of our engineering teams.

OSA GOLIATH was designed by GB Marine

The vessel Goliath, designed by GB Marine, is one of the largest offshore construction vessels in the world today. The vessel is diesel electric, DP III, capable of multiple functions, and is equipped with one massive 1600 MT revolving crane, two additional 100 MT supporting cranes on deck, anti-heeling and anti-rolling systems, a helideck, and is capable of heavy lifting and saturation diving activities. The vessel has also been fitted with an “A” frame, a provision for future pipelaying operations. Facilities include 299 high-quality berths, a fully fitted gym and sauna, swimming pool above the bridge, one large 150 seat mess room, a recreation room and a cinema hall.  There are also multiple offices and 2 conference rooms available for the crew in support of vessel operations.

GB Marine attained ISO 9001 Certification in 2009

On this date, GB Marine attained the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for its quality management system. Our journey towards achieving ISO 9001:2008 started prior to January 2009. From the outset, GB Marine sought to ensure that the use of the ISO framework would bring tangible value to our clients. Before approaching the American Bureau of Shipping, an accredited registrar, hours of work and preparation were undertaken, internal policies and processes were reviewed and aligned with ISO standards, employees trained and internal audits completed. The ISO 9001:2008 applies to all facets of our business. Producing quality work is a key priority for us at GB Marine. The ISO accreditation not only demonstrates just how much we have achieved, but also reflects our commitment to ensure the best quality of work for all of our clients.

Diving Support Vessel Azteca - Designed by GB Marine

This vessel is the first diving support vessel designed by GB Marine and marks entry into a new segment of the offshore industry. The ship is a DP class 3 vessel designed to support offshore construction and repair work, and drilling and cable works on an international basis.

These two vessels mark the start of a period of added focus by GB Marine on design of offshore vessels for the offshore industry, a process which is still ongoing to this day. The first vessel,  Miss Clementine was a conversion to a cable laying vessel based on designs by GB Marine. The second vessel Miss Marie was designed by GB Marine to be a completely new cable laying vessel.

Siti Aishah: Log Carrier Designed by GB Marine

The log carrier vessel "Siti Aishah" was the first of a series of log carriers designed by GB Marine.  Since then, GB Marine has designed larger bulk carriers, but Siti Aishah is the very first vessel of this type designed by GB Marine.

The "Deep Blue" Tanker (later renamed Maxus Widuri) was the first major tanker vessel to FSO conversion carried out by GB Marine. The project allowed us to enter the FSO/FPSO marketplace, and the experience gained from that project has helped us immensely with our subsequent FPSO and FSO conversion projects.

The vessel Solitaire was the largest conversion project of its type in Singapore at the time, and the Solitaire was and still is one of the largest s-lay pipe-laying vessel of its kind in the world. The scope of work for the project included stability (Intact and Damage), design of general arrangement, engineering design of deck house structures, structural and miscellaneous drawings, engineering design of crane foundations and overhead crane, engineering design of double joint factory, engineering design of the electrical distribution systems, and operational manuals. All Solitaire Pipe-Lay Vessel conversion project work assigned to GB Marine was completed successfully by GB Marine on behalf of the owner Allseas. The project experience gained was significant, allowing GB Marine to enter the pipe-laying segment of the offshore industry and pursue future pipe-laying and cable laying projects.

This was the first ever landing craft designed by GB Marine. Subsequent to this vessel, GB Marine has designed other more complicated landing craft, but this was the very first one.

The bulk carrier "Maratha Crystal" is the first of a series of bulk carriers designed by GB Marine, facilitating the entry of GB Marine into a specific segment of vessel design.

This Oil and Chemical Tanker, at the time named Berjaya Fortune was the first of a series of tankers ever designed by GB Marine. Today, the tanker has been renamed Global Gem.

Tembaga I: GB Marine's first ever New Build Vessel

GB Marine started out as a one man show. This was a time before personal computers, when manual drafting was the norm, and Asia was recovering slowly after the big recession of 1987.  All engineering design and calculations were done manually by our only engineer who happened to be the founder, and drafting work was outsourced to whoever needed extra work.  However with each small project, GB Marine developed as a company. The successful design of an entire new tug boat, our first true design, with limited resources was considered a significant milestone achievement in GB Marine's history. Onwards and upwards as the saying goes.

GB Marine was founded by Mr. Gurudas Banerjee on February 17, 1987 to provide design and engineering services to the maritime industry. Headquartered in Singapore, the company is best known for providing innovative designs for new vessels, executing complex vessel conversions and modifications, and providing engineering support services to the the offshore industry.
