New Vessel Design: Offshore Construction Vessel “Goliath” - The Goliath Rides the Waves
The vessel Goliath is true to its namesake, being one of the largest offshore construction vessels in the world today. GB Marine’s scope of work included the complete design and engineering of the hull and superstructure, piping system design, crane structures and finite element analysis, intact and damage stability computations for compliance with ABS Class requirements.
This behemoth of a vessel is a new build diesel electric vessel, DP III, capable of multiple functions, and is equipped with one massive 1600 MT revolving crane, two additional 100 MT supporting cranes on deck, anti-heeling and anti-rolling systems, a helideck, and is capable of heavy lifting and saturation diving activities in supporting of the oil and gas industry. The vessel has also been fitted with an “A” frame, a provision for future pipelaying operations.
This highly specialized offshore support vessel also has extensive accommodation space for the crew in the form of 299 high-quality berths, recreational facilities such as a fully fitted gym and sauna, swimming pool above the bridge, one large 150 seat mess room, a recreation room and a cinema hall. There are also multiple offices and conference rooms available for the crew in support of vessel operations.
