The vessel Sampson, declared "Best in Class" by European Oil and Gas 2013, is a specialist offshore support vessel, providing support to the oilfield services market. Like her sister vessel the Goliath, the vessel is diesel electric, has DP3 positional capability, has anti-heeling and anti-rolling systems, and comes equipped with a 1600 MT fully revolving crane. However, in  addition to the above, the Sampson is also equipped with a deepwater rigid S-lay pipelay  system and a 200 tonne subsea Active Heave Compensation Crane. GB Marine's scope of work includes but not limited to, the complete design and engineering of the hull and superstructure, piping system designs, crane structures, pipelay system, finite element analysis, and intact and damage stability computations for compliance with ABS Class requirements 

This highly specialized offshore support vessel also has extensive high quality accommodation space for the crew, recreational facilities such as a fully fitted gym and sauna, swimming pool above the bridge, one large 150 seat mess room, a recreation room and a cinema hall.  There are also multiple offices and conference rooms available for the crew in support of vessel operations.
