The vessel MT Makisig is a oil tanker designed by GB Marine for international voyages. The vessel is a "paragraph vessel", specifically designed to be under 5000 MT. Tonnage can be used as a measurement to charge vessels for its port dues, use of certain facilities or support infrastructure, or require implementation of certain design criteria . By designing the vessel to be under 5000 MT, the owners are able to minimize fees by avoiding certain tonnage regulations, dues and design requirements applicable to vessels at 5000 MT and above.
